winter / week 1
tending to our soil: returning to the deep restoration this time of year should be about.
root / foundational focus:
What is one pattern or habit in your life that may be dysregulating or draining your system right now?
What is one gentle, supportive shift you could make to begin easing this pattern?
Start with the low-hanging fruit, something that feels achievable and supportive over the next 30 days. We’ll check back in as a community in a few weeks to make any needed tweaks. Trust whatever comes to mind first.
stem / nourishment + movement:
Nourishing rice: a mindful way of preparing rice so it offers steady energy, supportive fats, prebiotics, and collagen. Very simply, cook your rice in bone broth instead of water, and add a spoonful of ghee, either before cooking or stirred in at the end.
After cooking, allow the rice to fully cool before eating or reheating. Cooling cooked rice allows resistant starch to form, which slows glucose absorption and acts as a prebiotic, supporting gut bacteria and more balanced blood sugar.
If your budget allows, choose a bone broth that is rich and gelatinous (rather than watery), and buy organic rice.
Rice is such an affordable, easy carbohydrate option and these small upgrades make the experience of eating and digesting it much more grounding.
flower / the cherry-on-top:
My morning drink (tea, matcha, coffee, etc.) is a deeply mindful and sensorial experience. It brings me back to myself, soothes my nervous system, and makes me feel safe and held. Drinking it from a beautiful, handcrafted clay mug amplifies that feeling by a thousand.
If you’re also a deep appreciator of a good ceramic mug, I wanted to share a new-to-me artist out of St. Louis: Molly Svoboda of Body Clay. She just shared a few new pieces, and I’m currently eyeing this one in particular.
